Northern Ireland Census (1841- 1851)

This database contains an index of names from 1841 and 1851 census abstracts held within Old Age Pension records made during the early 1900's. As no complete record of returns exists for these years, these records provide a valuable source of the records still in existence and cover extracts from Counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone. Entries typically include name, age, relationship to the Head of Household as well as the townland and parish of residence.

Church Census Collection

Clergy within a particular church sometimes undertook a census of congregation members and recorded the results in registers or other church documentation. Often these provide a snapshot of families within a parish at specific points in the church history. In the absence of most official census returns for the nineteenth century in Ireland, our Church Census Collection aims to collate the records scattered throughout various church records within Northern Ireland.

Our first Church Census covers over 700 names for Presbyterian families in the Dromore Presbyterian Church in County Tyrone around 1830. Further churches will be added to the database on a monthly basis.

School Registers

School registers can provide a valuable source of information, not only listing pupils names, but often providing details of parents' names and occupation. Currently this database only contains records relating to Campbell College, Belfast but is currently being updated to extend the number of schools and colleges covered.
