Personal Details:

When you register with Emerald Ancestors we collect personal information including your name, address, email and phone number. This allows us to process your registration and administer your account, fulfil your orders and send you important service messages. We will never share or sell your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We will only send you our newsletter if you have “opted in” to receive such material.

User-Submitted Historical Records:

 

We provide users with the facility to create, store and share family trees for the purpose of historical and genealogical research.  We recognize that in some cases this may include details on livings individuals. If you choose to provide personal information on living individuals in your family tree, you must ensure that you have the consent from the relevant individual, or in the case of a minor, from that of the parent or guardian. You should also ensure that the appropriate level of privacy is assigned to your tree to help safeguard privacy.

Regardless of the level of privacy set by you, we do not display the details of living individuals included in family trees in any search results displayed to other users of the website. 

We reserve the right to remove any personal data which you have included in your family tree about living people if we are alerted to the fact that this personal data was used without that person’s permission. We will notify you via email should we feel any such action necessary.

Google Analytics Cookies:

We use Google Analytics to review our website and this lets us see information such as number of visitors how long they stay on and what pages they have viewed.   Google Analytics does not provide any personally identifiable information about you.  In order to run Google Analytics we use a Cookie which is a small piece of software that loads in your browser which will log your site visit and the pages visited.  Google Analytics will store your IP Address and also records the pages you visit on our website and other information which is not personally identifiable to you. Shopping Basket Cookies:

Our shopping cart uses Cookies so that you can add products to the cart.  This allows you to browse the rest of the shop and your products will be stored in the basket when you checkout.   We also have a cookie to remember your chosen currency and the destination country so that we can calculate the shipping costs.   If you prefer not to use cookies then you can switch these off on your browser settings.

Enquiries & Feedback:

When you make an enquiry or feedback using the forms on this website then we store this information for a while so that we can effectively deal with he enquiry or feedback request.   When we have dealt with the enquiry or feedback we will then delete the personal details e.g. name, email address, telephone no etc. 

As a fail safe we have also built in an automatic deletion system that will automatically delete your personal details after 1 month.  Unless you have ticked the opt in box so that you can be keep up to date with news and promotions. 

Payments Details:

We do not store your payment details on this website or offline.  Payments are processed in real-time at the time of the order.  Payments are processed via a 3rd party payment provider and we have no access to your card details.  

My Right to Be Forgotten:

If you choose you have the right to have personal information about you deleted from our systems.  You can do this in my account section by logging on to your account and clicking on "Delete this account". 

If you become aware that your personal information has been included in somebody else’s tree on our website without your permission, please send an email to info@emeraldancestors.com with details. We will investigate this and, if necessary, remove this information.

Security

We take data security very seriously and have safeguards to prevent unauthorised access, misuse, loss and alteration of any personal data in accordance with UK data protection legislation. These include firewalls and virus checking procedures.

Data Encryption

SSL (Secure Socket Layer)

This website has an SSL Certificate installed which encrypts the data being sent to and from the web server (where the website is stored) and the browser (which you use to view the web pages).  When you fill in a form on this website the data is encrypted so that it cannot be read, making using this website more secure.

You are responsible for keeping secure any personal log-in details including your password. If you think that someone has accessed your information held by us without your permission or gained unauthorised access to your log-in details, you must notify us at info@emeraldancestors.com.
